The boxed set, if rumors are to be believed, is going to come with around 40 Space Marines, plus dreadnoughts and tanks and Terminators. Those are side games, never meant to be the mass-market productions that the Full Army games are going to be.īut Horus Heresy is set to be a Full Army game. I’m not talking skirmish games like Necromunda and Warcry and even Battlefleet Gothic. Now we don’t know how much of a flagship Horus Heresy is going to be, because there is still so much that has not been revealed, but when I’m talking about flagship games, I’m talking about Full Army games. And somewhere, somehow, Games Workshop has come to the conclusion that they can support not just two flagship games (Warhammer 40k and Age of Sigmar) but three flagship games (Horus Heresy). I don’t get into talk of gameplay very much because I play this hobby far less than I paint and write about it, but gameplay is an intrinsic part of a lot of peoples’ interaction with Games Workshop.
Either way, it’s kind of sixes for Games Workshop, because someone was buying more stuff, and if people are buying more then we’d better give them more stuff to buy.īut let’s look at gameplay.
